I told some friends recently that this blog is requiring a lot of learning on my end. I had hoped to simply recount experiences, but apparently any time we testify of Christ, we are His greatest student both during the experiences of which we testify – and the testimonies themselves. “Learning,” in my opinion, is both the gathering of information – and the application of it. I believe both are required for us to gain knowledge as God views it. The learning I have been going through has followed this pattern, and it has been a long and emotional few weeks since I last wrote. But we’re back in the saddle and ready to share again.
So far we have spoken of the purpose of this blog, of various experiences with angels, and of a literal physical healing. I have just a few miracles I wish to share to continue establishing a variety of ways in which I have experienced heaven, and then I am going to go to the beginning of these experiences and share in chronological order. As I do this I will share various life experiences that have led me to this point in my life, and what I have learned from each that I believe became necessary lessons in experiencing as I have. I hope by doing this that I can help at least one person to avoid my same mistakes and trials, and rather take the lessons I have learned and allow the application of that information to be found in the miracles that follow. This is going to be a long and adventurous journey, thank you for coming along for the ride. Here is my story for today, the one in which I see Christ (not for the first time, but one of the first):
Since these experiences began, Heavenly Father has “celebrated” my birthday (July 10th) with new knowledge, commands, etc. In the summer of 2023 I had walked with 5 of my 7 kids to a nearby park; that day, it happened to just be us there. I was taking the dog around the track that surrounded the park when I felt the impression to look up and out toward the opposite side of the park from the side I was on. Standing just in front of the track, on the large field in the middle of it, I saw my brother who had passed in 2016, waving his arms and smiling at me. (He has been a big part of this experience, it was him I first saw as an angel and him who taught me how to see others by expanding my sight rather than requiring Father to lend me His sight [either instance requires Father]). As I looked, Spencer (my angel brother) began making these large gestures, pointing to the left of where he was standing as he did so. I followed where he pointed and standing there was the Savior, in bright white, smiling from ear to ear. My immediate thought was to close my eyes because I can see Him so well in spirit, but He heard my thoughts and responded, “Don’t close your eyes, I want you to see with your spiritual and physical eyes.” Honestly, my first reaction was I kind of felt bad – like a reprimand (we’re never not human having a human experience, are we). As I continued watching Him, He held up a few fingers and asked me how many fingers I could see. I responded 2, and then 3, 1, He kept switching them (I don’t remember the exact order). I laughed and felt full of the Spirit from head to toe. I could see then it wasn’t just my kids and I at the park, angels were with us doing whatever they do for fun (running around the soccer field playing a game I didn’t recognize – they were all also dressed in bright white, some in robes, some in dresses, some in white shirts and pants). By this time, I had walked around the track and to the play area where Jonah, now 15, was sitting on top of the slide. I looked at him and asked what he could see. He responded,
“Why is the Savior holding up 3 fingers toward you?” I just nodded my head and smiled, honestly slightly embarrassed that I was having to “practice” seeing what my child could see without a second thought. I’m still not sure if he realized it is more difficult to see them with your physical eyes, or if his eyes are just opened so there is no difference. I looked back out to the field before heading to play with my younger kids and saw all angelic attention was now off of me and onto whatever they were playing, the next time I looked I could no longer see them.
In this instance there were two of us whom witnessed the same thing with our physical and spiritual eyes, but I have had similar experiences I could share where it was simply me present. I believe it could be natural to think I was seeing these things in my head, possibly projecting them in front of me – we all have to try to make fit what doesn’t make sense, and that may make more sense. But I have come to see through these experiences that naturally we see far less than what actually exists all around us. When I, or others, witness these things we are seeing what actually is; we are seeing through these mortal frames that are created expressly with the purpose of acting as a veil, (or a curtain) that blocks us from a more eternal view.
My young son had to get glasses a couple years ago, and I realized that they are a perfect example of how we each have differing sight, as opposed to differing realities. I will share my thoughts as I recorded them at the time he received his glasses:
A few days ago I posted about my 4 year old needing glasses, and angels. I didn’t realize the irony of the two experiences in the moment, but feel it’s important to make note of.You see, my son has astigmatism in both eyes causing him to see differently than what science has shown us is “normal”. My eyes are near perfect, without astigmatism, so I see nearly as expected from a perfect (or, whole) eye. This means that he and I can stand next to each other, with the same view in front of us, and see it differently. We also know that all vision, everything we can see, is a reflection of light. The light enters through the pupil and lens on the front of our eye, and the information is PROCESSED on the BACK of our eye (capitalizations mean the subject is interesting explored more deeply through the scriptures and other spiritual sources). Thus, were Someone “pulling the strings” of humanity, following the laws which run our world, They would simply expand or restrict the light entering, thus PROCESSED, in our eye. If God desired, you and I could be standing shoulder to shoulder and see different “realities”, still bound by the laws of God (Higher, and complete Priesthood) and the laws of nature (Aaronic Priesthood). But would that make our realities different? Or would it simply be the difference in how our physical bodies process information? Remember my son and I, same view, different visions.”Visions” what an interesting word God has chosen to describe when a person sees what has been, what is, or what will be – differently than the men or women around them (differently, or – at all). Ezekiel 1:1, Daniel 1:17, Joel 2:28, 1 Nephi 5:4, “Visions” in LDS Bible Topical Guide.
Let’s talk about Joseph Smith. I love him, I admire him, I know he IS and was a prophet of God here on earth, and I look forward to seeing him in the flesh. (Who is the “Elias” that will proceed the Savior’s second coming?) Why is the moment Joseph saw God the Father and the Son Jesus Christ called a, “vision”? Aren’t visions those things people see that many think of as being similar to dreams? Or, many think of as imaginary, as Sariah accused Lehi of in 1 Nephi 5:2 (when she thought her son’s had perished)? What are visions? Consider Joseph’s later experience with the angel Moroni (Joseph Smith History 1:33). It is impossible his brothers were not also in the small room, how did they not wake up when he himself described the room as, “exceedingly bright”, and the angel Moroni’s countenance as “lightning”? In my first post about my son I described my belief that the division of the waters from the waters (Genesis 1 ONE: 6, Moses 2 TWO: 6, Abraham 4 FOUR: 6), is symbolism for God dividing the greater Priesthood from the lesser (Melchizedek from Aaronic). To simplify this post, let’s say just assume Priesthood power contains light. To correct my son’s vision he will wear glasses which will allow light to be reflected and processed so that he may view the world correctly. If the world we see is run through the Aaronic Priesthood, but the world itself is powered by both Priesthoods, then wouldn’t all that would be necessary for an individual to see within that higher Priesthood, be for God to expand our “vision” that we may process more light? (Genesis 3:7, 2 Kings 6:17). Thus Joseph saw, and not his family, because he was seeing a greater light than those around him could process without God’s help (His correction of their mortal sight)? When God and His Son came to Him isn’t it possible it is called a “vision “, because his “vision” was expanded (Exodus 34:29, Matt 17:2). Isn’t it possible “visions” as a whole, are simply a correction of our mortal vision to experience light that is in the form of a Deity or other intelligence (angel), or a picture played out before us that we might see what was or will be (Mosiah 13: 5-9, 1 Nephi 8, D&C 76:47). Hasn’t science proven this is possible by the correction of sight? Maybe they have not yet found God’s power, but haven’t they shown us the laws by which His power is run? D&C 88:13. He hasn’t shown the world, but maybe He’s told us. Why does this all matter? Because it’s obtainable. And because there is joy and understanding in both the striving to obtain, and the obtaining (Jacob 5:75 Holy Hannah that’s a long chapter). Are we not a world seeking to flee sorrow, pain, and all things that bring us down? Don’t we look for pleasure and happiness to fulfill us? Wouldn’t God’s “light,” do both? John 16:20, Isaiah 53: 4, D&C 88:67). Maybe striving to obtain clearer sight, is the ultimate goal of this life. How do we obtain it? By obedience to God’s law (3 Nephi 12:20, D&C 130: 20-21). By obedience to the laws of nature, man has found a way (understanding how the human eye works and finding a way to correct flawed eyes to be in line with that function, as opposed to try to change that function) for my son to see as his body was created to see. Isn’t it possible then that by obedience to GodS laws, we may SEE as we were created to see, even, and especially, in this life? I believe it is.
I’ll leave you with a quote from President Young: When the spirits leave their bodies, … they are prepared then to see, hear and understand spiritual things. … Can you see spirits in this room? No. Suppose the Lord should touch your eyes that you might see, could you then see the spirits? Yes, as plainly as you now see bodies, as did the servant of [Elisha] [see 2 Kings 6:16–17]. If the Lord would permit it, and it was his will that it should be done, you could see the spirits that have departed from this world, as plainly as you now see bodies with your natural eyes (DBY, 376–77).
He has come. He is coming. He is gathering Israel, which means He is also preparing His people for a literal Zion. As Adam and Eve left the Garden to begin His plan, so will His people now return to end it (Ecclesiastes 1:9 and 3:15). It is happening. I testify with all that I am and ever will be. Don’t miss it, by failing to be obedient to both the higher and lower law. If we do not have perfect vision, and have no idea how to create glasses – will we be able to see by melting glass and sticking it in our own handmade frames? No. That’s ridiculous. Likewise, can we see additional light, if we do not go to, and follow the rules, of He Whom can Touch our eyes and allow that sight? No. It is impossible to do on our own. Not impossible because it is not there, impossible because we are not the Creator and do not know how to correct our sight. There is a significant difference. Moroni 10: 32-33.
These words are true. They are my testament and witness. I share them because I know you can experience as I have, and even greater things than I have. The Lord desires this for all of us.
Until next time,
Your Mother, Sister, Wife, and Friend – Jennica
