A Witness of Him

My Witness of Heaven

My Purpose From The Perspective Of “Mom”

Every day I have scripture study with my 3 younger kids (ages 7, 6, and 4). Most often we will do a little scripture video and then talk about it, sometimes though I share with them my stories of angels and Jesus and the heaven we came from and the one all around us. Today I was again sharing my testimony with them and I realized my experiences can have no greater impact than they will have on those I love, on my children. I was thinking later about this blog and the audience I may share with, and I decided to switch directions – I decided to make it a love letter for those I love most – for my children. My testimony and my witness, for my family. So I will henceforth be writing as if speaking to my children, I will be writing what I would have them know – while being aware I have made my story public and must therefore keep certain things sacred. If you continue to follow, follow as if you are a part of my family – and know that as I speak, I love you too. I love you because He loves you, and I have felt of that love. That love, is truly the only thing in life worth understanding. Understand the rest, second.

The rest of my blog posts will be love letters to my children. If you follow along, then welcome to my family. I always wished I could have more children.

A letter explaining my purpose, this time from the perspective of a mother. To my children and the reader:

Dear Children,

These experiences I am sharing, are real. In fact, we could say they are more real than the world around us. This world was created with a very specific purpose. It was created so we could choose, independent of internal influence, to become as God is (or not). In heaven, in His presence, we all wanted to become like Him. But to become as God is means choosing to act as He does, to think and feel as He does – with no memory of Him. It requires outside influences that will cause us to go through every emotion, negative and positive – and through those various experiences, still make the choice to become as He is. This world was created to give us that opportunity. But we lived a life long before this one, and we will continue living that life long after this world has passed. This world and this life are temporary. The only things we will take with us from this world are the things we have learned and to some extent, the relationships we have formed.

When I speak of interactions with those in heaven (on the other side of the veil), I am interacting with those who have already returned to the life we once lived, and will continue to live after this (that’s an over generalization, there are details we will talk of later). My interaction with them often times feels more real than the world around me, because something inside me can feel deeply, that they are home. That I have known those I have spoken with much longer than anything I have known here. At times Heavenly Father will part the veil of my memories and I will even remember interactions I had with some of the angels before this life, and then the experience I am having with the angels becomes a part of my soul in a way that nothing besides truth and my love for my family has in this life. You know how you are generally aware of your body, and if you focus in on any one part you simply know that it is a part of you – the feeling is kind of like that. A sure knowledge of what actually exists.

Because of what I experience, what I feel, when I get to have these interactions, because I am still me (with my thoughts and feelings) as they happen – the stories I tell may seem no different than if I were to speak to you of having gone to church on Sunday. Or of any day to day experience I may relate. I see these people, I have heard the voice of Jesus Christ with my physical ears and seen Him with my physical eyes, I have felt the scar that covers the hole once pierced when He hung on the cross. I am no more capable of questioning these experiences than I am of questioning if I woke up this morning. They are simply what is. I recognize they are sacred and there are no words that could do justice to express my gratitude – but they are also simply my life, which is why I am relating them as stories just as I would relate any other lived experience. Because they are an experience I have lived. And what I hope you receive from that is the sure knowledge that there is a great purpose to this life, and there is much more to our existence than what immediately meets the eye. If you can put in perspective our purpose, I believe it will assist you in making decisions in this life in a way that nothing else ever could. I know it will. I also hope that by bringing a level of normality to these Biblical experiences, you will know to expect the same or similar (experiencing the gifts and power of God), and you will grow your faith so that you can.

Faith is like a conduit for God’s power. Imagine it like a metallic tube, through which God’s power runs into you and your life. Both the tube and the power are magnetic, your faith attracts His power. As your faith grows the width and strength of your tube will expand, allowing for more and more of His power to be present within you. Do you remember in Ether when the brother of Jared saw the finger of Jesus? What did Jesus say to Him about why he had been able to see Christ’s finger? He said, “Because of thy faith thou has seen…”. (Ether 3:9.) The brother of Jared had a lot of faith, his conduit was wide and allowed for a lot of God’s power to work within him. Our faith works exactly the same. At times there may be angels among us and in the very same room there can be one person who sees and hears them, one person who maybe only sees them, and another who may have no idea they are there (I have experienced this and will share it at some point). This happens because of the strength of our faith, how much of the power of God is within us. Each person in the same room may have a different level of faith, and so they experience heaven through a different level of our mortal senses.

My desire for you, for each of you reading this, is to experience heaven with all of your spiritual and physical senses whenever God the Father makes the opportunity possible. My hope is to normalize these experiences so that your faith may begin to grow through the knowledge that they are happening.

I love you each dearly, let’s pass this test we signed up for together – and let’s pass it to the best of our abilities, bringing as many of our eternal brothers and sisters with us as possible. I promise, fulfilling this purpose – the purpose for which this whole world was created, is the greatest quest you can take on in this life. Nothing will bring you more contentment, more joy, more satisfaction, than remembering why you were born and seeking to fulfill that purpose.

Jesus Christ lives. He is the beginning, middle, and end of this plan. Learn of Him and He will teach you the details. Let my words simply serve to strengthen your faith, so you may recognize when He speaks. He is the teacher, I am merely a witness.
